George A. Smith, Jr., Named a Shareholder of Bryant Miller Olive
TALLAHASSEE -- Randy Hanna, Managing Shareholder of Bryant Miller Olive, has announced that George Smith has been named a shareholder of the firm. Mr. Smith has been with the firm since 1999 and is resident in the firm’s Tallahassee office. He practices primarily in the public finance and affordable housing areas.

Mr. Smith has represented numerous Cities, Counties and School Boards throughout the State of Florida as Bond Counsel in his tenure with Bryant Miller Olive. He has also represented underwriters such as A.G. Edwards, Inc., Citigroup Global Markets Inc., RBC Dain Rauchser Inc. and UBS Financial Services, Inc. as Underwriters Counsel. His expertise in the affordable housing area has included serving as Bond Counsel to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and housing finance authorities in Miami-Dade County, Volusia County, Pinellas County and Hillsborough County. Prior to becoming a member of The Florida Bar in 1998, he clerked with the Florida Department of Banking and Finance and was a Legal Extern to Judge Lewis M. Killian Jr., at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Florida.
Mr. Smith is active in numerous civic and community activities, including volunteer work for the American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee and as a mentor in the Take Stock in Children program through Tallahassee Community College. He is listed in the Municipal Bond Attorneys section of The Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace, is a member of The Florida Bar and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He graduated with honors from the Florida State University College of Law and also received a degree in Finance from Florida State University where he was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon (The International Economics Honor Society) and the Seminole Torchbearers Council of 100.
