Bryant Miller Olive Subsidiary to Consult on Bond Issues

The Business Journal of Jacksonville – A statewide law firm that opened a Jacksonville office last year has formed a local subsidiary that will specialize in bond compliance consulting.

Integrity Public Finance Consulting is a subsidiary of the law firm of Bryant Miller Olive, which is based in Tallahassee and opened a local office in February 2005. Integrity Public Finance Consulting will specialize in arbitrage rebate calculations, helping clients determine their tax burden when they reinvest the proceeds of tax-exempt bonds into securities with a higher return.

Bryant Miller managing shareholder Randy Hanna said Integrity started business Nov. 1 but won't really get underway until its first four employees start work Dec. 1. Those employees, led by Laurie Scott, will leave the accounting firm of Ernst & Young Dec. 1 when Ernst & Young shuts down its arbitrage rebate calculation department, Hanna said.

"This is a separate venture that's a wholly-owned subsidiary [of Bryant Miller]," he said. "It will start with four employees, it's Jacksonville-based and the client base will be all over the country."

The clients will consist of government entities and some developers who issue tax-exempt bonds.
