Chris Lamia has significant trial experience with notable jury trial experience in complex commercial disputes. She has represented private and public clients throughout the state in federal, state, appellate and administrative proceedings. Ms. Lamia has considerable experience in federal court having handled cases in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Eleventh and Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Before returning to private practice, Ms. Lamia was employed with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection from 2005 through 2008 as the Total Maximum Load Program Attorney and the Litigation Specialist. She was responsible for a variety of agency rulemaking and litigation relating to water quality issues affecting surface waters of the State of Florida. In addition, Ms. Lamia defended challenges to the development of the Panama City – Bay County Airport and various coastal development challenges. As part of her duties as Litigation Specialist, Ms. Lamia handled complex environmental issues in several program areas ranging from construction disputes to closures of landfills to an action to compel the United States government to assess contaminated groundwater sites. Prior to public service, she practiced in Sarasota and Fort Lauderdale handling complex commercial, real property and construction disputes in federal, state and appellate courts. Ms. Lamia is Board Certified in Construction Law and was Board Certified in Business Litigation from 1996 through 2006. Additionally, she is a member of Commercial Panel of American Arbitration Association. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Florida State University in 1984 and her Juris Doctorate from Mercer University in 1987. With considerable trial experience in the federal, state and appellate courts, Ms. Lamia brings an additional component to the full range of services the firm provides in utilizing both preventative and proactive strategies in protecting the clients’ interests.
