Cari Roth brings over twenty years of public and private sector legal and legislative experience to Bryant Miller Olive and chairs the firm’s Land Use and Governmental Consulting practices. She has returned to private practice after serving four years as General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of the Florida Department of Community Affairs. She played a lead role in negotiating major growth management legislation during her tenure at the Department. As General Counsel, she assisted all programs of the agency and was involved in many inter-agency efforts, particularly those with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Department of Transportation and all the regional Water Management Districts. She also served as part of the leadership team that guided the management of the agency. Ms. Roth’s practice focuses on land use, growth management and infrastructure issues, intergovernmental relations, and state and local government relations. She also has significant expertise in special district law. Ms. Roth has been a frequent lecturer and has published several articles on land use law. She is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell and has served as a member of the Executive Councils of both the City, County, and Local Government and Environmental Land Use Law sections of The Florida Bar. She has been recognized by Florida Trend for the last three years as one of Florida’s Legal Elite in the area of land use law and was recently named to the 2007 publication of Super Lawyers. Ms. Roth currently serves on the State’s Environmental Regulation Commission by gubernatorial appointment. Ms. Roth is a 1983 graduate of Florida State University’s School of Law.
