Patti Grant-Wilkinson is Managing Shareholder of the Washington, D.C. office of the firm. Her practice focuses on municipal finance and real estate. Ms. Grant-Wilkinson has served as bond counsel to numerous cities, counties and authorities, and has served as underwriter’s counsel, disclosure counsel and bank’s counsel. Her municipal clients have included the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency, the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Prince George’s County, Maryland, Miami-Dade County, Florida and Commerce Capital Access Program Corporation in its capacity as designated bonding authority to the United States Department of Education for its Historically Black Colleges and Universities Loan Program. Ms. Grant-Wilkinson has worked on over 150 transactions in connection with the issuance of over $12 billion in tax-exempt bonds during her career. Her general municipal finance expertise includes structuring, negotiating and documenting general obligation bonds and revenue bonds on a wide range of public financings including airport, privatized student housing, affordable housing, water and sewer, health and education, as well as complex public-private development, tax increment and special assessment projects. She has particular expertise in tax-exempt financing structures including fixed rate, variable rate, and auction rate bonds, commercial paper, letters of credit, bond insurance, swaps, forward commitments, and GICs. Prior to joining Bryant Miller Olive she was a partner in the Public Finance Group of Hunton & Williams, LLP, having been with that firm for 16 years. Prior to that Ms. Grant-Wilkinson was an Associate with Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP. Ms. Grant-Wilkinson is a member of the Maryland Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. Additionally, she is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and has served on the organization’s Faculty of Fundamentals of Municipal Bonds Seminar, 1995-1997. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association. Ms. Grant-Wilkinson has a B.A. in English Literature from the Georgetown University. She received her Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1988.
