Robert James is an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of the firm. His practice focuses on municipal law and public finance law, procurement law, and governmental affairs. He has more than thirteen years of experience in the legal field. Mr. James previously served as the Deputy General Counsel to the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) for the District of Columbia. As Deputy General Counsel, Mr. James was responsible, among other things, for supervising the legal aspects of District financings on behalf of the OCFO. During the past eight years, he was actively involved in nearly
$3 billion of District financings. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Donald E. Ziegler of the United States District Court for Western Pennsylvania. In addition to his many professional accomplishments, James is dedicated to serving many community and civic causes. He serves on several boards including ICOR Partners Advisory Board, Smith Real Estate Services, Inc. Advisory Board, Virginia Civil War Commission Advisory Board, and the George Mason University Metropolitan Relations Advisory Board. He also is a member of Leadership Washington, Leadership Arlington, and the Arlington NAACP.
He is the Founder of Latitudes Group, a multi-cultural nonprofit organization seeking to improve the inter-group relations between African-Descendants and Latinos. James earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University and his Masters degree in both Business Administration and Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Boston College.
