
Kristin Ottinger is a member of the firm’s Government Counsel Services practice group based in the firm’s Tampa office. Ms. Ottinger focuses her practice on representing cities, counties, special districts, and local governments in all government legal matters. With over 25 years of diverse legal experience surrounding local government law and litigation, her experience includes serving as a city attorney, assistant city attorney, general counsel and special magistrate for a variety of municipal entities.
Ms. Ottinger’s local government experience includes serving as City Attorney for the Town of Indialantic, Legal Counsel for the Florida Metropolitan Planning Organization Advisory Counsel, as well as several regional Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and General Counsel for the School Board of Hernando County. She also previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Tampa where she initially acted as the City’s sole municipal prosecutor and later as a litigator handling the defense of the City in a variety of liability cases.
Ms. Ottinger has over two decades of litigation experience; she has successfully participated in over 80 jury trials and more than 100 bench trials. She has served as in-house counsel for Progressive Insurance, where she managed all phases of litigation for the company in both property and bodily injury coverage disputes. At the start of her legal career, she served as a criminal prosecutor with the State of Florida
Kristin graduated from the Stetson University College of Law, where she was a Legal Writing Honor Society member, a competitive Client Counseling Team member, and was awarded the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award. She received her Bachelor of Science in psychology and a minor in English from the University of Florida.
