A multi-office, multi-state law firm seeks a talented Paralegal to help support the Real Property & Commercial Transactions practice group in our DC office.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting attorneys with real estate closings from start to finish and have fundamental understanding of title insurance commitments and surveys for commercial real estate closings
  • Reviewing title and survey materials, preparing title survey objections letter and coordinating with title companies and surveyors in resolving title and survey objections
  • Ordering third party services and coordinate with service providers to real estate transactions, related to surveys, zoning reports, environmental site assessments, property condition reports, permit reports, and appraisals
  • Basic understanding of tenancy laws and can prepare deeds
  • Assisting with the preparation of due diligence checklists and review of due diligence items
  • Reviewing closing documents
  • Researching UCC filings and corporate documents
  • Preparing closing document packages for clients
  • Preparing/drafting closing document transcripts
  • Preparing/drafting recordable documents for filing or recording
  • Conducting general internet research
  • Completing general post-closing tasks
  • Assisting with formation and registration of entities, acquisition of federal employment identification numbers and related tasks
  • Under the supervision of an attorney, drafting, editing, cite-checking and otherwise assisting in the preparation of loan, purchase, sale, loan servicing and ancillary documents
  • Overall support to the real estate and transactions group


Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Can electronically record deeds in Simpli-file
  • Has used MD and DC deed recording electronic systems
  • Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills
  • Aptitude and willingness to work on complex procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate potentially detailed and complex information to others
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously and willingness to work extra hours as needed
  • Problem solving, analytical and research skills
  • Motivated self-started with a positive attitude
  • Willingness to work both independently and as a part of a team in a deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to professional growth and development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and aptitude for quickly learning various other programs
     

Education/Job Experience Requirements:

  • Experienced real estate paralegal with 2-5 years desired
