Kareem Spratling, Esq., Attorney with Bryant Miller Olive P.A.’s Tampa Office,
Appointed Vice Chair of National Association of Bond Lawyers’ General Law and Practice Committee

Tampa, Fla. (Sept. 30, 2019) Bryant Miller Olive P.A. (BMO) Attorney Kareem Spratling, Esq., was recently appointed vice chair of the National Association of Bond Lawyers’ (NABL) General Law and Practice Committee during NABL’s “The Workshop” that took place in Chicago, Illinois. Spratling focuses his practice on public finance law.

NABL provides high-quality continuing legal education programs and timely resources for lawyers and non-attorney professionals who are involved in the public finance industry. In his position with NABL, Spratling, along with the General Law and Practice Committee chair, will assemble subgroups to address specific projects as they arise.

The General Law and Practice Committee monitors developments that affect the NABL model opinions and makes recommendations for revision projects, maintains and develops model language for bond documents, and identifies and addresses issues of which NABL members should be aware in the municipal law area. Projects originate both from Board direction and from NABL member initiation.

“Kareem is well-deserving of this position with NABL’s General Law and Practice Committee,” said BMO Managing Shareholder Grace Dunlap. “He is extremely skilled in the role of bond counsel on private activity bond transactions, and brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to the organization. He is a valued member of BMO’s unique team, which is oriented with a collaborative style, well-suited to the public finance community.”

BMO has one of the largest and most experienced public finance practice groups in the southeastern U.S., with resident attorneys in its Tampa, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee and Jacksonville offices.

Spratling has provided counsel on transactions with a combined principal amount in excess of $13 billion. He has represented governmental and quasi-governmental entities at all levels, including the United States of America, the State of Florida, and multiple Florida counties, cities, ports, housing/housing finance authorities, conduit issuers and charter schools. Spratling regularly lectures at the NABL’s Bond Attorneys Workshop Seminars.

In 2017, Spratling was named to the Tampa Business Journals "Up and Comers" list. In 2016, he was named one of 24 inaugural “Rising Stars” by The Bond Buyer magazine, one of two honorees in Florida and the only Florida lawyer. In 2010, he received a “Rising Star” Super Lawyers rating, as published in Super Lawyers Magazine, an honor earned by less than 2.5% of attorneys in Florida and only two public finance attorneys.
