Day appointed to Land Use and Economic Development Legislative Policy Committee
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sept. 10, 2020 – The Florida League of Cities, the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments, announced that Nikki Day, Esq. of Bryant Miller Olive P.A. (BMO) was recently appointed to serve on the Florida League of Cities 2020-2021 Land Use and Economic Development legislative policy committee. Day has been appointed to the legislative policy committee every year since 2013.
Legislative policy committee chairs, vice-chairs and members are appointed annually by the League’s president. Florida League of Cities President Tony Ortiz, commissioner for the City of Orlando, made the appointments for this term.
As a legislative policy committee member, Day will help develop the League’s Legislative Action Agenda, which details priority issues that are most likely to affect daily municipal governance and local decision-making during the upcoming legislative session, as well as help League staff understand the real-world implications of proposed legislation and are asked to serve as advocates throughout the legislative process.
“I am proud to continue my commitment to Florida League of Cities and serve on the land use and economic development legislative policy committee,” said Day. “With seven years of serving on Florida League of Cities legislative policy committee, and my experience in BMO’s State & Local Government practice group, I am looking forward to working with a remarkable group of committee members to address policies specific to municipal concerns with land use and economic development.”
Working out of BMO’s Tampa office, Day is the co-chair of BMO’s litigation practice group and is also a member of BMO’s State & Local Government practice group, where her primary practice includes representing city, county, and state governmental entities in all manner of legal matters, including corporate governance, public finance, and complex litigation. Day is board certified by The Florida Bar in City, County & Local Government Law and serves as Special Counsel to local governments throughout the state.
